A broken water line has closed a portion of 44th Street Thursday morning, according to Columbus Police.

The section of road that is closed is between Second and Third avenues near the Pizza Pronto, Sgt. Art Sheldon said. Police expect the problem to be cleared up by noon.

The problem was reported about 10 a.m., according to John Peebles, Columbus Water Works vice president of field services.

"It is big enough that we will make an emergency repair," Peebles said.
