- There was one injury to report: Sheldon Dawson pulled his hamstring and will likely miss the rest of spring, as a precautionary measure. Dawson said after the scrimmage that he hoped he could ice it and heal quickly, but admitted he might end up just resting it until the summer.

- After the defense was generally regarded as having the better first scrimmage, Saturday went to the offense. It probably helped that Murray was back, having missed the first one to attend an awards ceremony.

"We threw it a little bit more than we ran it today," Richt said.

Murray said the first-team offense scored every time it had the ball, whether it was a field goal or touchdown. Well, there was also an interception, but Murray complained (good-naturedly) that the cornerback held.

Sheldon Dawson, the cornerback in question, issued this response:

"Well, the ref didn't see it," he said.

- Freshman Reggie Carter had a very good day at inside linebacker.

"Reggie's a very good fundamental linebacker," Richt said. "When I say that, he's got a very good base, he moves laterally well, he's a good fundamental tackler. He's still not as strong as he'll probably need to be one day. He's got a good attitude toward contact. And he's a pretty sharp kid."

- Faton Bauta, the redshirt freshman quarterback, has bicep tendinitis and therefore has not been able to throw in either scrimmage.

- While fullback Quayvon Hicks didn't register in the stats, Richt wanted to mention him, and not just for his scrimmage performance.

"(Friday) he picked up a blitz and did it with enthusiasm. He's very physical. He's just starting to play a lot faster, he's a lot more comfortable with the scheme," Richt said. "He actually had a rush today that was real impressive."

Merritt Hall, the other fullback, is bothered by a sprained ankle right now.

- John Theus, who started every game at right tackle last season, was working with the first-team left tackle in Saturday’s scrimmage. That’s according to video from the scrimmage, which was closed to the public, released by the team later in the day.

Theus, one of the team’s highest-rated recruits in 2012, missed the first few weeks of spring practice because of a foot injury. He returned this week, but as of Thursday he thought he was staying at right tackle.

“I haven’t been told anything else,” Theus said.

After Saturday’s scrimmage, head coach Mark Richt didn’t say anything about Theus. But he did say the staff is tinkering with combinations, and said Mark Beard got most of the time at left tackle.

"With Theus back we're kind of messing around to see what to do there," Richt said. "It's gonna be interesting when (Chris) Burnette's back (from shoulder surgery)."
