Man robbed of his own gun at Victory Drive hotel

An Opelika, Ala., man was robbed at gunpoint of his own gun, cellphone and cash during a holdup at the Colony Inn on Victory Drive.

The unemployed man wasn’t injured in the holdup which occurred sometime between 3:57 p.m. and 4:45 p.m.

The victim told police he was inside the 4300 Victory Drive hotel when the robber pointed a gun at him. The robber took his Samsung cellphone, Glock 17 pistol and $100 in cash.

No description of the suspect was available. The robbery remains under investigation, police said.
