Update: Police take suspects in Opelika stabbing at Brookhaven Trailer Park into custody

Updated (1:49 p.m.): Two men suspected in the murder of a man in Opelika, Ala. were arrested Monday afternoon, according to an Opelika Police Department press release.

Kadarrious Douglas Beasley, 24, of Auburn, and Kentarious Douglas Beasley, 24, of Auburn were taken into custody at Ridgecrest Apartments in Auburn at about noon.

The Beasleys were arrested by officers of the Opelika Police Department, Auburn Police Department and agents from the State of Alabama Probation and Parole Division without incident. Both were arrested in connection with the murder of 35-year-old Gregory Antoni Moody, which occurred Sunday night.

Both Beasleys were taken to the Opelika Police Department for questioning and will later be transported to the Lee County Detention Facility. They are charged with one count of murder and one count of attempted murder each.

The night of the incident, police arrived at Brookhaven Trailer Park, located on the 1700 block of Hurst Street, at about 6:10 p.m. Officers found that two individuals were stabbed during an altercation which involved several people.

Gregory Antoni Moody, 35, of Opelika, was later pronounced dead. This is Opelika's third murder of the year.

William Herbert Moody Dowdell, 28, of Opelika, the other victim, was in surgery Sunday night and is in critical condition.

The Beasleys reportedly fled the scene on foot into a wooded area just north of the scene of the incident. The motive in unclear at this time. A weapon believed to have been used in the offense has been recovered.
