Officer punched while investigating car near Woodruff Road

A Phenix City, Ala. woman was arrested Sunday morning after she punched an officer who investigated a car near Woodruff Road, according to a Columbus Police Department report.

An officer approached a gold Toyota Camry at the intersection of Manchester Expressway and Woodruff Road at about 3:15 a.m. Sunday after noticing that the driver side and rear passenger doors were open.

While on scene, he made contact with Jessica Riley, 25, who allegedly punched the officer in the face with a closed fist. The officer sustained slight swelling to the left side of his lip.

Riley was arrested and charged with disorderly while intoxicated and felony obstruction of a police officer. She was transported to Muscogee County Jail.
