College golf: Ex-Blue Devil recognized for excellence

KENNESAW, Ga. -- Kennesaw State junior and Columbus High grad Jonathan Klotz received the Owls of Excellence Award for the month of April.

The award recognizes student-athletes for community service and success in their sport and in the classroom. One student-athlete is given the award each month.

Klotz, a finance major, has maintained a 3.9 grade-point average during his time on the golf team. He also volunteers for the Boys and Girls Clubs of America, Golden Soldiers, Must Ministries, Habitat for Humanity and the Jr. Owls Reading Program.

Klotz was also given a Peach of an Athlete Role Model Award on March 26 by the Atlanta Area Boy Scouts of America. The award recognizes outstanding "Role Models for Youth" in scouting, community service, academics and athletics.
