Phenix City police arrest man wanted for murder in Tennessee

Phenix City police, along with the U.S. Marshal Gulf Coast Regional Fugitive Task Force, arrested Daniel Denard Nesbitt, 31, this afternoon. Nesbitt faces charges of murder and attempted murder in Memphis, Tenn.

Nesbitt was located at the Riverview Apartments in Phenix City at approximately 3 p.m.

According to police, while taking Nesbitt into custody, he fired a semi-automatic handgun inside the residence.

No law enforcement officer were injured.

Nesbitt was charged with attempted murder and being a fugitive from justice by Phenix City police.

Nesbitt is currently in the Russell County Jail.
