Update: Vehicle flips on J.R. Allen Parkway after driver falls asleep; minor injury reported

Update (Thursday, 11:52 a.m.):

There has been a traffic accident on J.R. Allen Parkway about 1.5 miles east of Blackmon Road, according to Columbus Police. At 11 a.m. the crash site had been cleared and traffic was back to normal.

Columbus Police Motor Squad Sgt. Chris Anderson said the accident began when a driver traveling westbound on J.R. Allen Parkway fell asleep at the wheel. The vehicle rolled after drifting to the median and entered the eastbound lane. Another vehicle traveling eastbound then hit the rolled over vehicle.

One person in the vehicle traveling eastbound sustained a minor injury, and was taken to The Medical Center. Neither occupant of the vehicle which rolled over were injured.

Anderson said he was unsure of the exact time when the wreck took place, but said it was cleared within the hour.
