A Columbus woman was charged with first degree cruelty to children for failing to report a cigarette burn to her daughter’s ankle, police said.

Dashondra Johnson, 25, was arrested about 4 p.m. Friday at the Public Safety Center. She is being held on $5,000 bond in the Muscogee County Jail for a 9 a.m. Monday hearing in Recorder’s Court.

During an investigation, Johnson told police her 22-month-old daughter was burned by her boyfriend with a cigarette on March 20 but she didn’t report the burn until March 28. The child suffered a first-degree burn to the left ankle, police said.
