A Columbus woman was arrested near Lakebottom Park Friday after she was seen waving a gun during a dispute with another woman, police said.

Dominique Mulrain, 25, was charged with one count of reckless conduct after a dispute with Cleopatra Vaughn near Garrard Street and Cherokee Avenue.

Mulrain was charged with one count of reckless conduct when she was taken into custody about 8 p.m. She was released on $2,500 bond from the Muscogee County Jail.

Vaughn, 32, said she was walking in the area when she and Mulrain started a conversation about a missed birthday party for a child. The dispute escalated into an argument.

“She ran and got a gun out of the front seat of the car and was waving the gun at me and coming toward me with the gun,” Vaughn said Saturday.

During the argument, Mulrain’s child was in the car along with her boyfriend. “I was just trying to avoid anybody getting hurt, her or me,” Vaughn said. “The gun could have went off. It was just terrible.”

The woman’s boyfriend snatched the gun from her and ran. Police arrived and found Mulrain on the other side of the park. No one was injured in the dispute.
