The National Civil War Naval Museum hosts History Now! a Living History and Museum Theatre Festival featuring mixed performing arts, symposia and presentations April 18-20.
Real to Reel History: Members Preview and Membership Drive: 7:30-9 p.m. April 18. On Thursday, April 18, the Museum will hold Real to Reel History, a multimedia presentation and panel discussion on the Colonial Williamsburg / National Civil War Naval Museum production Ironclads, airing on PBS in March 2014. Speakers will include Emmy-winning screenwriter Gina DeAngelis of Colonial Williamsburg and the National Civil War Naval Museums Ken Johnston, Executive Director, and Jeff Seymour, Archivist/Historian. This members-only event will offer Museum members and VIPs a sneak peek at the Ironclads film, insights into the filming and production, and a chance to ask questions and hear from some of those involved in bringing the story to life. The evening will also provide an opportunity for non-members to join the museum. Memberships start as low as $30, and include free admission to all Museum events and programs. History Now! Living History and Museum Theatre Festival: 10 a.m. 4:30 p.m. April 20. Programming kicks of with a special living history program on what daily life was like aboard ship, conducted by an interpreter in period uniform will take place at 10 a.m. at the 1000 Block of Broadway. From 11 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the museum, History Now will feature museum theatre and living history performances interpreting the 11th to 20th centuries through performing arts. Programming will include participants from The Knights of Pendragon, Mercury Studios in Los Angeles, The Smithsonian, Colonial Williamsburg, The Liberty Theatre, The National Civil War Naval Museum, the Columbus Brass, and Columbus State University. Admission is free for members, regular admission for non-members.
