June 15: Miss Georgia Parade, Pajama Run kick off week of competition

The first Miss Georgia Parade has been set for 7 p.m. Saturday, June 15, along Broadway in Uptown Columbus. All the Miss Georgia and Miss Georgia Outstanding Teen Contestants will be participating. The annular Miss Georgia Pajama Run will begin at 9 p.m. The first 500 racers to sign up will get a Aflac Floating Duck. Preliminary competition for Miss Georgia begins June 19 and continues until a new Miss Georgia is crowned on June 22. Register for the run at www.active.com. Sign up for $25 until June 10. It will cost $30, the day of the race. Prizes will be awarded to top finishers.

The walk/run benefits the Miss Georgia Scholarship Fun and Children's Miracle Network. Runners and walkers are encouraged to wear their cutest and most "tastefully" outlandish pajamas. The party kicks off at 7 p.m. with registration until 8 p.m. and the Miss Georgia contestants "Show us you're Bedroom Slippers Contest" at 8:45 p.m.
