A man was arrested for possession of marijuana at the Walmart on Buena Vista Road Monday after he was apprehended for attempting to steal a pink dog collar and leash, according to a Columbus Police Department report.

Police arrived at the Walmart at about 4:30 p.m. and spoke with store authorities. An employee in charge of theft prevention said that Dominique Vangue, 19, was confronted for concealing a pink dog leash and collar and attempting not to pay for it. The employee noticed Vangue adjusting his pants a lot of while waiting for police to arrive. When officers arrived, they found a bag with nine grams of marijuana individually packaged in Vangue's pants. The marijuana was valued at $90.

Vangue allegedly told police the marijuana was not his, but when officers asked if they could look at security video, Vangue said "Let's just go. I'll own up to it."

Vangue was charged with theft by shoplifting and possession of marijuana. He was transported to Muscogee County Jail.
