Texting while driving leads to marijuana arrest

A man was arrested and charged with possession of marijuana Tuesday after he was stopped for texting while driving, according to a Columbus Police report.

An officer stopped Devonte Fleming Tuesday at about 8:45 a.m. after he saw him holding his phone in front of his face while texting near the intersection of Brennan Road and Buena Vista Road. After stopping Fleming, he allegedly found .3 grams of marijuana in the car.

Fleming was charged with possession of marijuana and transported to Muscogee County Jail.
