GAINESVILLE, Ga. -- The Blue Devils soccer team rallied from a 2-0 deficit but fell short in a 2-1 loss to Johnson High School Wednesday night.

Fabian Abarca scored just before the half to give Johnson a 1-0 lead. Jonathon Mendoza made it 2-0 at the 60-minute mark.

But Columbus kept attacking and Jake Bingham scored at the 65-minute mark to cut the lead to 2-1.

Coach Tom Perry said it was a hard-fought game.

"We really took it to them," he said. "We got most of our shots in the second half and really had them on their heels, but we couldn't get the equalizer."
