Failure to wear seat belt leads to marijuana arrest

A man was charged with possession of marijuana Wednesday afternoon after he was stopped for not wearing a seat belt near Gentian Boulevard, according to a Columbus Police report.

An officer stopped Anshad McKay, 31, at about 5:40 p.m. after he observed McKay not wearing a seat belt near the intersection of Gentian Boulevard and University Avenue. During the stop, the officer discovered McKay was in possession of 4.4 grams of marijuana, which was estimated to be worth about $40.

McKay was arrested and charged with possession of marijuana. He was taken to Muscogee County Jail.
