Construction workers at a site near the intersection of First Avenue and 35th Street found a gun in the river Thursday, according to a Columbus Police report.

Police responded to the construction site at about 3:45 p.m. after receiving reports that a gun had been found. When officers arrived, they spoke with an employee at the construction site who said the gun was found in the river two hours earlier.

Officers reported the gun appeared to be a Beretta .25 semi-automatic pistol. The weapon was so rusted and corroded that no serial number or model number could be found. The gun appeared to still have a clip in it.

The gun was logged into property information. No further information was available.
