Home explosion on Willowbrook Drive critically injures one person

There was an early-morning home explosion Thursday on the 4900 block of Willowbrook Drive in Columbus that has critically injured one person, according to Fire Marshal Ricky Shores.

A young man, whose age was not immediately available, has been airlifted to the burn center in Augusta, Ga., with second- and third-degree burns, Shores said.

Fire fighters were dispatched to the explosion happened shortly after 5 a.m.

Columbus and Fire and Emergency Medical Services is investigating and ledger-enquirer.com will have more details as they become available.
