Shotgun, 2 rifles reported stolen from Leighton Road home

Columbus police are investigating the reported theft of a shotgun and two rifles from a Leighton Road home. Also taken was a DVD player.

According to a police report, the theft occurred Friday between 6:30 p.m. and 9:30 p.m.

Entry was made through the garage door where an estimated $750 worth of damage was done.

One of the residents noticed a shotgun shell on the bed and kicked something under the bed with her foot. It turned out to be a gun case that is usually in the closet.

The case had been pried open.

Two weapons were gone from the case and another from the closet.

The total value of the items taken was estimated at $3,050.
