Man faces child cruelty charges after allegedly hitting 10-year-old with broom

A man was arrested and charged with cruelty to children and family violence battery Tuesday after he allegedly hit a 10-year-old boy with a broom, according to a Columbus Police report.

At about 5:15 p.m. Tuesday, officers were dispatched to the 8200 block of Lantern Lane in reference to an assault. Justin Molanders was later arrested and charged with hitting the 10-year-old in the arms and face with the broom.

Molanders was transported to Muscogee County Jail. No further details were available.
