Hendricks to replace Cook as Central softball coach

May 15, 2013

Matt Hendricks was named Wednesday to replace Bobby Cook as the Central softball coach.

Cook resigned Monday after seven seasons "to spend more time as an administrator in the Phenix City School System," according to a news release from the school.

Cook was named the assistant principal at South Girard School in January.

He finished his career with a 194-100-1 record. He took the Lady Red Devils to the 2012 AHSAA Class 6A state finals.

Hendricks came to central after seven seasons as a coach at Russell County, three as the softball coach. He compiled a record of 64-56 and a pair of area championships.
