Central to host Hoover for spring football game on Friday

The Central High football team will host defending state champion Hoover for its spring game at 8 p.m. Friday at Garrett-Harrison Stadium.

Admission to the game is $5 for students and adults, and concessions will be available throughout the contest.

Hoover ran the table in 2012, finishing 15-0 and defeating Opelika 31-0 to claim the Class 6A state title. Only once during the season, including playoffs, did it allow more than 20 points in a game and never during the regular season.

Central earned the fourth seed out of its region in 2012, dropping its playoff opener to Spain Park, 43-13.

The two teams have met only once for an official game, a 21-14 win for Hoover in first round of the 1978 playoffs.
