Vanderbilt defeats Alabama 14-10 in regular season finale

NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- The Tide outhit No. 1 Vandy Saturday, but the Commodores drew nine walks and made the most of them in a 14-10 win over Alabama at Hawkins Field.

Alabama rapped out 14 hits to nine for Vandy. But Vandy scored seven runs in the second inning and put up five more in the sixth inning.

Alabama players had great days. Brett Booth went 4-for-4 with 2 RBIs, Chance Vincent went 2-for-3 with 3 RBIs and Austin Smith was 3-for-5 with an RBI.

Steven Rice (3-0) picked up the win. T.J. Pecoraro got a save for the Vandy (48-7, 26-3 SEC).

Taylor Gilbeau (4-1) gave up four runs in the second inning, was chased and took the loss for the Tide (32-24, 14-14 SEC).

Alabama will enter next week's SEC tournament as the No. 7 seed and will face rival Auburn on Tuesday.

In Friday night's game, Alabama defeated Vandy 5-4 in 10 innings. Freshman Ray Castillo (Russell County) picked up a save.
