Small Business Week culminates with boot camp, networking breakfast and awards

Small Business Week in Columbus continues Wednesday with “boot camp” sessions on contracting and social media, with the half-day event taking place at Columbus State University’s Cunningham Center, 3100 Gentian Blvd.

Cost of the event, which be held 8:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m., is $25 for members of the Greater Columbus Chamber of Commerce, with lunch included.

The week’s festivities wrap up Thursday with an Eye-Opener Breakfast at the Columbus Convention and Trade Center. The networking event from 7-8:30 a.m. will include featured speaker William Taylor of Taylor CPA & Associates.

Thursday evening, a gala will be held to recognize chamber members in several categories — Small Business Giant of the Year, Chamber Visionary Award, Young Entrepreneur of the Year and Drugs Don’t Work Workplace of the Year. The event takes place 6-8:30 p.m. at the River Mill Event Center, 3715 1st Ave., Columbus. Tickets are $50 for chamber members. To register for any of the events, call 706-327-1566.

The Columbus chamber, which dates to 1845 and is the first five-star accredited chamber in Georgia, represents more than 1,200 businesses. More than 8 percent of the organization’s members are small businesses.
