UPDATE: Nicki Minaj is also officially leaving "American Idol." She confirmed the news in a Thursday tweet that said, "Thank you American Idol for a life changing experience! Wouldn't trade it for the world! Time to focus on the Music!!! Mmmuuuaahhh!!!"

It's bad news for "American Idol" fans who can't live if living is without her.

Mariah Carey is leaving the "Idol" judges' panel. The singer, who spent one season with the show, confirmed the news Thursday by retweeting a Twitter post from her PR firm.

The firm's tweet says, "W/ global success of “#Beautiful” (#1 in 30+ countries so far) @MariahCarey confirms world tour & says goodbye 2 Idol http://mariahcarey.com"

Of the most recent season's judges' panel, Mariah is the second judge to confirm her departure. Shortly before the season finale, longtime "Idol" judge Randy Jackson announced his departure from the show.

The announcement followed online rumors that "Idol" will fire all the current judges in hopes of reviving the show's popularity in its 13th season.

Discussion time: Will you miss Mariah and Nicki? Also, do you want Keith Urban to remain on the panel?

For what it's worth, here's the tweet announcing Mariah's departure:
