Two charged with intent to distribute marijuana, Gleason Avenue assault

Two people were charged with possession of marijuana with intent to distribute Wednesday after they were arrested in connection with an aggravated assault which took place Tuesday on Gleason Avenue, according to a Columbus Police report.

Police arrived at a residence on the 2900 block of Gleason Avenue at about 11:45 p.m. after receiving reports of an assault. When they arrived, two victims told police that a man and a woman held them at gunpoint and threatened them with a knife. A 39-year-old woman received cuts to her forehead during the incident.

Officers tracked the suspects to the intersection of Huntwood Drive and Caribou Drive at about 12:30 a.m. Wednesday. Police then arrested Tremain Hawkins, 23, and Nhage Hughes, 19, and charged them with possession of marijuana with intent to distribute. The amount of marijuana found was not specified.

Hawkins was charged with aggravated assault, disorderly conduct, failure to have tag illuminated, improper tail lights, no seat belt on passenger, pointing a gun, possession of drug related objects, possession of a firearm during the commission of crime, distribution of controlled substances, being in a prohibited place and theft by receiving stolen property.

Hughes was charged with aggravated assault, disorderly conduct, no seat belt on passenger, possession of drug related objects and possession of marijuana with intent to distribute.

Both were transported to Muscogee County Jail.
