South Alabama truck driver killed after striking fallen tree

A Brundidge, Ala., truck driver was killed early Friday morning when his 2001 Freightliner struck a tree that had fallen in the road, according to a press release from Alabama State Troopers.

The crash occurred around 5 a.m. on Ala. 130 near Troy. Ivery Dunford Jr., 51, was ejected from the tractor trailer, which came to a rest after striking a building. He was pronounced dead at the scene by the Pike County coroner.

Storms with high winds had swept through the area Thursday night.
