A 41-year-old Columbus man is accused of raping a girl, 17, Friday at her home off Forrest Road, police said.

Archie Lee Zanders Jr. is charged with one count of rape in the 9 a.m. assault and held in the Muscogee County Jail. Zanders, 41, faces one count each of robbery and misdemeanor simple battery in a separate case. He was ordered held without bond in the jail for a 2 p.m. Monday hearing in Recorder's Court.

In a report, the girl told police that she was in her bedroom about 9 a.m. when she was forcibly held by the 230-pound suspect and raped. The man is the live-boyfriend of the victim's mother, police said.
