A man was arrested and charged with possession of marijuana with intent to distribute Saturday after he struck a curb while being followed by police, according to a Columbus Police report.

An officer was patrolling the area of 12th Avenue and 31st Street at about 3:30 a.m. when he noticed a black 1997 Chevy Tahoe turn around on 12th Avenue. The officer began to pursue the vehicle and noticed the driver strike the curb with his right tire, causing damage to the tire. He then noticed the driver throw an unknown large object into the back of his car.

Travane Jackson, 20, was pulled over and searched. Police did not indicate how much marijuana was found in the vehicle or what was thrown into the back of Jackson's vehicle.

Jackson was charged with possession of marijuana with intent to distribute. He was taken to Muscogee County Jail.
