Home Depot shoplifter arrested for meth possession

A man was charged with possession of methamphetamine Monday after he was apprehended for shoplifting at Home Depot on Sowega Drive, according to a Columbus Police report.

Police placed Billy Burris, 41, in custody Monday at about 4:20 p.m. after he was caught shoplifting at Home Depot. While he was being searched, police found a small glass container that contained remnants of meth. Burris admitted that the substance was crystal meth and that he frequently uses the drug.

Three unused syringes were also found in Burris' pocket.

Burris was charged with possession of meth and drug related objects. He was taken to Muscogee County Jail.
