Chattahoochee Valley's Nick Jones is runner-up for ACCC Player of the Year

Seven Chattahoochee Valley Community College baseball players earned Alabama Community College Conference honors earlier this week.

First baseman/pitcher Nick Jones was the runner-up in balloting for ACCC Player of the Year.

He was joined on the All-ACCC first team by catcher Cody Walker and right fielder Ty Abbott.

Those three were joined by designated hitter/catcher Jared Martin, third baseman Tim Massengale and pitcher Dalton Rentz as members of the All-Central Division first team.

Rentz also made the All-ACCC second team.

Shortstop David Levy made the All-Central Divsion second team. This is the second year in a row that Levy earned All-conference honors.

CVCC's baseball and softball teams were recognized as an NJCAA All Academic Team. The baseball team had a 3.04 GPA, while the softball team had a 3.14.

This is the fifth time the baseball team has won recognition.

Three athletes earned Academic All-American honors. Baseball player Dominique Smedley, who had a 4.00 GPA, won the Pinnacle Award for Academic Excellence.

Softball players Ashlee Craig (3.90 GPA) and Leslee Craig (3.83 GPA) earned a Superior Academic Achievement award.
