Rentz rallies to win Purple and Gold golf tournament

Levi Rentz overcame a three-shot deficit Sunday to edge Dan Kirkland by one stroke in the annual Purple and God golf tournament at the Fort Benning Golf Course.

Rentz shot a final-round 73 to finish at 148. Kirkland, who led the championship flight after a first-round 72, shot a 77 Sunday to finish second at 149.

Other flight winners included Drew Welch (first flight, 160), Sydney Hollingsworth (second, 168), Ronnie Carroll (third, 168), Rick Jacobson (fourth, 176), Warren Jahn (fifth, 184), Nick Williams (sixth, 188), James King Jr. (seventh, 203).
