Police arrest 14-year-old juvenile for drinking inside Peachtree Mall

Police arrested a 14-year-old boy Saturday after he was found intoxicated inside the Peachtree Mall, according to a Columbus Police report.

Mall security responded to a complaint about a group of teenagers at Peachtree Mall at about 4:45 p.m. One of the teenagers, the reporting party said, appeared to be sluggish with dilated pupils. When mall security found the youth, he had a black plastic bag with an open 23.5 oz Four Locos beer.

When police arrived, the juvenile told officers initially that he was 17-years-old. When he was placed in handcuffs and the transporting unit arrived, he said he was 15-years-old, at which point police contacted his parents. When a parent arrived at the scene, police discovered the boy was 14-years-old.

The juvenile was released to his mother. He was charged with minor in possession of alcohol and two counts of false information.
