American Idol winner Ruben Studdard will compete on The Biggest Loser

Ruben Studdard, who won the second season of “American Idol,” will be a contestant on “The Biggest Loser.” Entertainment Weekly reports that Ruben, who hails from Birmingham, is the first famous face to compete on the NBC reality TV weight-loss series.

I'm all for pursuing a healthy lifestyle, but I can't help wondering why Ruben couldn't obtain a high-profile celebrity trainer on his own. I mean...he's not bankrupt YET, right?

When I heard the news, I did some Google research on Ruben. Is anyone else surprised to learn he apparently has a greatest hits album? From Wikipedia: "This album failed to chart and sold a total of 1,000 copies."

Of course, no discussion of Ruben Studdard is complete without revisiting this tune:

You're welcome.
