A 33-year-old man was stabbed in the back and in his left underarm Thursday while on Playfield Drive, according to a Columbus Police report.

Police responded to a residence on Playfield Court at about 11 p.m., where the victim was sitting on the porch holding a towel under his arm. The man told police he had been walking down Playfield Drive when an unknown suspect ran up to him and stabbed him in the back.

The victim said at first he didn't realize he had been stabbed until the suspect stabbed him a second time in his left side. He then ran to a friends house on nearby Playfield Court and called police.

The victim was transported to The Medical Center and treated for a three inch wound in his left underarm. Medical professionals were unable to determine how deep the cut was.

Police were unable to determine a motive for the suspect and were unable to provide a sufficient description. Anyone who has information should call 706 653 3400.
