Police arrest knife-wielding man at Circle K

A knife-wielding man was jailed early Friday after threatening a Circle K clerk in the parking lot at the 1408 Veterans Parkway convenience store.

James M. McHan, 46, faces charges of aggravated assault, two counts of terroristic threats, disorderly while intoxicated and possession of a weapon during the commission of a crime. He is being held in the Muscogee County Jail on bonds totaling more than $25,000. Police said McHan engaged in a verbal dispute with a woman in the parking lot about 4:30 a.m. when he said,” I’m gonna cut you from head to toe.” He then pulled out a pocketknife with a 3 inch blade and continued to threaten the store clerk.

McHan who is homeless was arrested after police arrived. Police said he was intoxicated and in possession of an alcoholic beverage when he was taken into custody.
