Man attempts to strangle wife

A man was arrested Sunday and charged with aggravated assault after he attempted to strangle his wife, according to a Columbus Police report.

Police arrested Jimmy Castro at about 7 a.m. after an officer was dispatched to an apartment on the 1800 block of Victory Drive. The victim told police that Castro strangled, punched and slapped her.

Castro was charged with aggravated assault and false imprisonment. He was taken to Muscogee County Jail.
