Little League baseball roundup: American 9-10s beat Spalding County 12-1; Northern 10-11s lose to Dudley in semis

CARNESVILLE, Ga. -- The American 9-10 All-Stars beat Spalding County 12-1 on Thursday night in a game shortened by the mercy rule.

Aidan Buhr picked up the win. Payton Taylor and Mathew Denamur also pitched.

Pete Stansell and Lucas Botero both went 2-for-3. Gage Chesser hit a three-run triple.

American is 3-0 in pool play. It plays Midway at 6 p.m. today in the final pool-play game.NORTHERN 10-11 LOSES IN SEMIFINAL

PEACHTREE CITY, Ga. -- Northern 10-11 All-Stars fell 7-4 to Dudley Thursday in the state semifinals.

Dudley had two home runs in the first inning and another homer in the second inning to build a 7-0 lead.

Northern's Zachary Garcia got things going in the bottom of the second with a single. Tyler Watkins kept it going with a single. Garrett Justice hit a single advancing Garcia into scoring position. Mitchell Harp hit a double to score Garcia and Watkins. Jagger Smith singled in Justice, and a wild pitch allowed Harp to score. The inning ended 7-4 and that was the end of the scoring.

Colton Joyner held Dudley hitless over 4 2/3 innings. He allowed no earned runs, walked one and struck out nine.

During the tournament, Will Graydon, John Runyon, Garcia and Harp all batted over .500. Joyner had a home run and pitched one complete, hitless game.
