Northern, Smiths Station pick up easy baseball wins

RICHMOND HILL, Ga. -- Trent Grantham hit a grand slam as the Northern Little League All-Stars improved to 2-0 on Sunday with a 12-2 win over Belvedere in the Georgia major baseball tournament.

Benjamin Sloan went 2-for-3 with a two-run homer. Grantham and Sloan also had doubles.

Noah Lee hit a homer in the third inning. He also got the final out of the game.

Northern finished with 17 hits.

Northern will play Toccoa at 8:30 p.m. on Monday.

Smiths Station opens with Dixie Youth win

TROY, Ala. -- The Smiths Station Dixie Youth All-Star Ozone Team beat Marbury 12-0 on Saturday in a game stopped after 5 innings due to the mercy rule. It was a game in the opening round of the state tournament.

Smiths Station hits five homers in the game. Joseph Wade, Matt Ventimiglia, Ryan Bradley, Chase Locklar and Sterling Evilsizier all hit home runs.

Joseph Wade and Carter Duke combined on a perfect game.

Smiths Station played Sunday night against Saraland.
