SPECIAL TO THE LEDGER-ENQUIRER

A Columbus-raised "Baywatch" star who's searching for Noah's Ark met her fundraising goal for the project.

We recently told you about Donna D'Errico's desire to climb Mount Ararat in eastern Turkey -- a site some people believe is the location of Noah's Ark.

D'Errico turned to "crowdfunding" website Kickstarter to help finance a documentary about searching for Noah's Ark. She wanted to raise $10,000 by July 25.

Kickstarter lists her campaign total as $11,145.

D'Errico is a former Playboy Playmate and "Baywatch" star who was once married to rocker Nikki Sixx. She currently lives in California, but grew up in Columbus. She attended St. Anne and Pacelli Catholic schools in Columbus. As a child, she moved to the area when her father was sent to Fort Benning with the military. She still has family here.

In fact, her interest in Noah's Ark started in Columbus.

In a recent interview, D'Errico described a third-grade field trip in Columbus, when she watched "In Search of Noah's Ark," a documentary about the topic.

"I just became really mesmerized by Noah's Ark," she said. "It's kind of inexplicable."

This isn't D'Errico's first expedition to Mount Ararat. In 2012, she climbed the mountain, began filming the documentary and searched for Noah's Ark for nearly two weeks.
