Northern remains unbeaten in state tournament

RICHMOND HILL, Ga. — The Northern Little League All-Stars improved to 3-0 with a 4-1 win over Toccoa on Monday night in the Georgia major baseball state tournament.

Trent Grantham picked up the win as he allowed one hit and struck out 10 in his 4 1-3 innings of work. The only hit he allowed came with two outs in the fourth on an infield single. He retired the other 13 batters he faced.

He also had four hits and three RBIs.

Noah Lee came in to relieve Grantham and finished the game. Toccoa scored its only run in the sixth.

Northern scored two in the first inning, added a run in the fourth and another in the sixth. The run in the sixth came in on a throwing error by the Toccoa catcher.

Northern plays its final pool play game Tuesday at 6 p.m. against Martinez-Evans.

Northern is 3-0 in pool play, while, Martinez-Evans, which was idle Monday, is 2-0.
