Fox54 presented the contest. Area singers signed up in the afternoon. An initial screening process narrowed the pool to 30 singers. Those singers performed in front of an audience and panel of judges -- including local musician Kenny Lewis, Sonya Sorich from the Ledger-Enquirer and Sebastian Villalta of Naartjie Multimedia and PMB Broadcasting.

Judges commented after the performances, but text message votes from the audience/fans made the final decision.

Castellow, who lives in Columbus, will travel to Omaha for the "cattle call" phase of "Idol" auditions held Aug. 11.

Here's a video of him performing "Sunday Morning" by Maroon 5 after winning the title. This is the song he performed at the top 30 stage of Saturday's competition.
