Phenix City National beats North Carolina

CEREDO-KENOVA, W.Va. — The Phenix City National 9-10 All-Stars scored three times in the sixth inning to beat North Carolina 4-2 on Monday in the Tournament of State Champions.

Despite the win, Alabama didn't advance to the semifinals, finishing with a 1-2 record in pool play.

Phenix City trailed 2-1 heading into its final at-bat. But two hits, two errors and a wild pitch allowed Phenix City to take the lead.

Tyler Haines pitched 5 1-3 innings to earn the win. Jackson Meeks got the final two outs.

PJ Ramsey hit a homer for Phenix City.
