Columbus police were searching Saturday for 31-year-old Travis Porter, wanted for aggravated assault in an early morning shooting that wounded two people at a "house party" on Garden Drive.
Detectives have said Porter fired into a crowd of people after he was ejected from the event.
Carl Jackson, 31, sustained a gunshot wound to his upper chest and was sent to an Atlanta hospital for more intensive treatment, police said. Lena Williams, 32, had gunshot wounds to both legs, but her injuries were not as severe, detectives said.
The "house party," a celebration where people crowd into a private residence, was at 2609 Garden Drive, police said. Investigators said the hosts were searching guests who came in, and a fight started when Porter refused to be searched, so he was ejected.
He apparently went to his vehicle to retrieve a weapon, then fired at the guests. Police were called to the shooting around 3:30 a.m. Saturday.
Detectives said other charges related to the house party may follow.
Garden Drive is south of Andrews Road, about two blocks east of where it intersects with Brown Avenue and Cusseta Road.
