Browns extend LS Yount

The Sports NetworkAugust 6, 2013

The Cleveland Browns have signed long snapper Christian Yount to a new five-year contract that will run through the 2017 season, the team announced Tuesday.

Yount, who was scheduled to be a restricted free agent at the conclusion of the upcoming season, has served as the Browns' long snapper for the team's last 21 games since joining Cleveland in November of 2011. The 25-year-old has added four tackles on special teams over that stretch.

"Christian has proven that he's a reliable contributor," said Browns head coach Rob Chudzinski. "He's an important cog at an often undervalued position. We're happy to have him on our team."

Yount broke into the NFL as an undrafted free agent with Tampa Bay in 2011 and participated in five games with the Buccaneers that season.
