It’s already been open about two weeks, but Erbert & Gerbert’s Sandwich Shop will have its “grand opening” and ribbon-cutting Thursday morning at 11:30.

The business, located at 1660 Whittlesey Road, adjacent to Cici’s Pizza, is franchised by Steven Davidson, who also operates the Fuddrucker’s restaurant on Airport Thruway.

Prize drawings for an Apple iPad mini tablet and a $50 gift card and $25 gift card, are planned for Thursday’s event, while a $500 donation will be made to the Survivor Outreach Services program at Fort Benning. To register for the drawings, check in with the shop on Facebook or stop in at the store.

Erbert & Gerbert’s is a Wisconsin-based chain that serves cold submarine sandwiches, but leaves “Mr. Guts,” or the bread filling, on top for dunking in your soup.

Sandwiches come in signature, specialty and classic “flavors” with names like Quatro (cranberry wasabi chicken), Comet Candy (ham and roast beef) and Jacob Bluefinger (avocado). There also a Pudder, which is peanut butter and jelly.

Davidson plans to open a second Erbert & Gerbter’s at Billings Crossing on Gateway Road. Allison Cruz, Columbus director of operations, said that likely will be in early 2014.
