A 28-year-old Columbus man was treated at The Medical Center late Friday after he was robbed and shot twice on 20th Avenue, police said.

The victim was in stable condition after the 6:30 p.m. assault at 444 20th Ave., police said. He was being treated for gunshot wounds to his right arm and upper right chest.

Police Sgt. Michael Dahnke said investigators have issued a warrant for the suspected gunman. He will be charged with one count each of aggravated assault and armed robbery. Police didn't give a motive in the assault, but they said the investigation led to the suspect.

In a report, police said officers were called to the apartment complex to check on a shooting victim. Officers found the wounded man in front of an apartment.

Police didn't disclose what was taken from the victim before he was shot twice.

As officers rushed to the scene, they also were told the gunman was riding a bicycle. No suspect was found in the area.

The robbery and shooting remain under investigation, police said.
