Montgomery woman dies in one-vehicle crash on I-85 near Opelika

A Montgomery, Ala., woman is dead after a one-vehicle wreck at 4:40 a.m. Sunday on Interstate 85 approximately four miles north of Opelika, Ala., according to a report from the Alabama State Troopers.

Collier Ann Byers, 22, was a passenger in a 2002 Jeep Grand Cherokee that left the roadway, struck a guardrail, went down an embankment and overturned. Troopers said Byers was not wearing a seat belt.

The driver, Parker Lowell Ivey, 22, of Montgomery, Ala., was not injured.

No additional details are available as the investigation continues.
