The Columbus State men's basketball team will play Division I UAB on Friday, Nov. 8, in Birmingham, Ala.

The game will be an exhibition for CSU, while it will count for UAB.

"This will be a great experience for this year's team," CSU coach Robert Moore said. "Playing against a Division I team is always thrilling and it can be used as a great learning experience for the regular season."

The Cougars last played a Division I team on Nov. 8, 2010, when they beat Auburn 54-52 in Auburn.

CSU suffered through numerous injuries last season and finished with a 13-13 record. The Cougars return six players from that team.

The Blazers, members of Conference USA, went 16-17 last season.

Rod Rucker, who was a second-team all-conference performer, is returning for his senior season, Rucker averaged 14.5 points and 8.2 rebounds per contest.
