Jordan seeks to put end to long slide

August 25, 2013

Coach: Jim Brown, second year, 0-10

Assistant coaches: Jim Brown, offensive coordinator; Michael Woolridge, defensive coordinator; Cory Brown, WR and DB; Chris Brunson, RB and DB; Dwayne Burke, DL and OL

Homefield: Kinnett Stadium/A.J. McClung Memorial Stadium

2012 record: 0-10

Region: 5-AAGood news: Seventeen returning starters and another year under the tutelage of Jim Brown, who was new to the team in 2012, is a recipe for improvement. It's a clean slate and the history of the past three seasons is just that: History. Jordan can look toward the future and focus on improving each week.

Bad news: The Red Jackets have lost 24 straight games. In any situation, a streak like that is difficult to overcome. It still doesn't have the participation, tradition or fan support that would go a long way to giving it something more to play for. Winning helps in that regard, but the support and tradition can also lead to success.

Our take: The goal last year was to get players excited about coming out for football. This year, the goal should be about on-field results. Things won't come easy, but expect the pesky losing streak to come to an end and the team to make some strides in the right direction. As much as they'd like to play postseason football, the Red Jackets still need to focus on real attainable goals. Reaching smaller goals can still give a feeling of success that can help them grow.
